Potassium – K

Potassium – K

Potassium is one of three principle macroelements necessary for terrain or plants. Some curiosities on potassium and why it is so important:

Terrain

Average content of potassium of earth’s crust is approximately of 2,3%. The vast part enters in composition of primary minerals and it is present in secondary minerals.

From alteration of these mineralogical entities derive, in natural condition, numbers of nutrient available for plants.

Plants

Plants absorb elevated quantities, usually in excess regarding to real exigency. Its concentration in % per dry weight in a plant varies from 2% to 3%. Potassium in plants is characterized by elevated mobility. Generally, it comes transferred from older organs to these younger ones, rather in direction of meristematic tissues. The major absorption of element happens while vegetal development.
This element develops numerous physiologic and biochemical functions. The raised presence of potassium in juice of xylem contributes to lower the hydro potential of roots, increasing absorption of water.

It has an influence on the process of transpiration, increasing this way potential cell osmotic and regulating the mechanism of opening and closure of stomata.
It influences the quality of production: it gives greater flavor to the fruit and it conserves it, to tobacco the best combustibility and more pleasant aroma.
In case of deficiency, symptoms occur with patchy chlorosis and necrotic areas along edges and at the ends of leaves, which can curl and crinkle in a characteristic way. Potassium-deficient plants present weakening of trunk, increased sensibility of pathogens, greater susceptibility to frosts.

Agrifeed specializes in meticulous manner in procurement and distribution of raw materials based on potassium in a way to be able to offer various products to both agricultural and technical/industrial use.
